Course Overview

The RYA Day Skipper (Theory) course is designed for aspiring skippers who want to gain an entry-level qualificationto skipper a sailing or motor yacht, as well as charter vessels in countries that require certification. This internationally recognised course provides the essential theoretical knowledge required to navigate safely and manage a yacht effectively. It also serves as a prerequisite for the RYA Day Skipper Practical course.

At Lagoon Academy, we highly recommend completing the classroom course for the best hands-on learning experience. However, if your schedule does not allow for in-person attendance, we also offer a flexible online version through Skippers Online, allowing you to study at your own pace.

During the 5-day classroom course, you’ll complete two 90-minute exams to demonstrate your understanding of the material. If you can’t commit to five full days in the classroom, you can opt for the online version via Skippers Online for more flexibility.
