What’s a Deckhand?
Let’s begin right at the start. A deckhand is an entry-level job which focuses on maintaining the exterior of the yacht to immaculate standards. You will usually be part of a crew of 10 – 50, depending on the size of the yacht.
Day to day?
A deckhand’s role is incredibly varied, and the hours can be long. You’ll work hard to maintain the yacht’s pristine exterior, which means plenty of cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing. But it’s not all hard labor, many deckhands say the best part of the job is driving tenders or assisting guests with water sports like jet skiing and wakeboarding.
When guests aren’t onboard, your duties might shift to deck maintenance or even small repairs, keeping things shipshape for the next adventure.

Perks of the job
From partying with guests in St. Barts to greeting Beyoncé onboard in Portofino, our instructors have stories to tell! While we can’t guarantee every guest will make you star struck, the experiences you’ll have are second to none. One of the biggest perks? The travel. You’ll visit some of the most remote and breathtaking destinations imaginable.
And it’s not all work, days off allow you to fully soak in these incredible locations. Plus, when your “office” is on the water, it’s safe to say you won’t miss the 9-to-5 grind!
